Lewis Achenbach, Jr., son of Lewis and Elizabeth Achenbach of near Cedar Bluffs, Iowa, was born June 12, 1878, and departed this life August 23, 1941, at the home of his sister Laura which has always been his home. His parents having preceded him in death several years ago. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Alex, Orlando, John, Laura, Mrs. Calia Monier and Mrs. Angeline Stout all of Cedar Bluffs, Iowa, Emanuel of near Center Point, Iowa, Isaac of Solon, Iowa and Abner of Anamosa, Iowa, also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Lewis' life was one of extreme devotion to all who knew him. He was a kind and loving brother and a patient sufferer. Although he suffered pain he never complained. He had been in failing health for a number of years, but it has been just the last four years that he has been helpless. In this period of time, he has been most tenderly cared for by his faithful sister Laura and Mr. and Mrs. Felix Monier who have also aided in his care.

Farewell, our precious brother, Life is sad without you here. Oh, may we meet in heaven above, where all is joy and peace and love.

Funeral services were held at the Cedar Bluffs Church, Monday afternoon with Rev. H. N. Poston of Tipton officiating. Burial was in Cedar Bluffs cemetery.
