8 June 1944 - The Sun News

Ruth, daughter of A. W. and Orpha Berryhill, was born January 17, 1891 in Chase county, Nebraska. When she was quite young the family moved to Gresham, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood. Here she attended the local schools and later became a student of York College at York, Nebraska. She taught schools eight years in her home state and Iowa.

Ruth and H. H. Crist were married at the family home in Gresham, Neb., June 29, 1916. The first ten years of their married life were spent on the farm of Mr. Crist's father, between Clarence and Tipton. They then moved to the J. R. Claney farm which is their present home.

During the early years of her life, Mrs. Crist united with the Presbyterian church. For a number of years she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. During two of those years she was Worthy Matron and later served as president of the Past Matron's group. Her work as leader of the Four H Club of girls gave her much satisfaction because she enjoyed being with and directing the activities of young people.

Mrs. Crist bade farewell to things of this life at the St. Alphonsus Hospital, in Boise, Idaho, one-thirty in the afternoon, June 3, 1944, at the age of 53 years.

The members of the family surviving, are her husband, Mr. H. H. Crist; and children, Kenneth, Kathryn, Virginia and Barbara; her mother, Mrs. A. W. Berryhill of Gresham, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. William Diers of Gresham and Mrs. Willard Ryan of Benedict, Nebraska; two brothers, E. E. Berryhill of Emerson, Iowa, and Hubert Berryhill of Salem, Oregon.

Services were conducted at the Clarence Methodist church, the afternoon of Tuesday, June 6, by Elder U. J. Fike and Rev. A. E. Chamberlin.

Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

The funeral was largely attended and many of Mrs. Crist's friends were moved to remember her with flowers, beautiful and abundant.
