Alice May Winters, daughter of David and Marcia Winters, was born near Lowden, Iowa, August 12, 1870, and died at her home in Clarence, Iowa, the evening of May 25, 1944.

She lived in the vicinity of Lowden until her marriage to Joseph William Banks at Tipton, Nov. 1, 1899. To this union were born four children, two daughters and two sons.

Their first home was on a farm in Carroll county where they lived several years and then they moved to Clarence where Mrs. Banks spent the rest of her life. Mr. Banks preceded her in death in 1940.

Those surviving are: Two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Davis and Mrs. Ralph Rowser of Clarence; two sons, James Banks of Gary, Indiana, and Sgt. William Banks, who is overseas. Her son-in-law, Sgt. Ralph Rowser, is in England; the grandchildren, Mrs. Lawrence Busch and her husband of Lost Nation, Pvt. Robert Davis of Clarence; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Shoestall, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Charles McMahon, Wilton Junction, and Mrs. John Isenhart, Tipton.

The funeral was held on Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. A. B. Chamberlin in charge. Burial followed in the Clarence cemetery.

In charge of flowers--Mrs. H. A. Bouschlicher, Mrs. Raymond Stange, Marjorie Hecht. Pallbearers--Raymond Stange, Marvin Schilling, Dewey Rhatigan, Lester Kelly, Edward Albert, Howard Claney.
