J. D. Reid, 80, died at his home, 1041 Fourth avenue SE, Cedar Rapids Sunday morning, following a long illness.

Born in Lowden, Dec. 12, 1865, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Reid, pioneer settlers of Cedar county.

He served six years as recorder of Cedar county, from 1909 to 1915.

He was married to Ella Rhodes of Fertile, Worth county, in 1891, who died in 1894.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine; one daughter, Mrs. J. E. Shriver of Clarence; one sister, Mrs. E. R. Struck of Tipton; four brothers, Charles of Tipton; R. R. of Lisbon; A. P. of Lowden and J. G., who resides at Santa Cruz, Calif.; also four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday in St. Mary's church, Tipton. Burial followed in St. Mary's cemetery.
