John Martin Maher, 69, died at his home in Cedar county at 1:30 p.m. Monday after a brief illness following a stroke. He was born in Cedar county and had lived there all his life. Besides his wife, Katherine, he is survived by nine children:; Mrs. Mae Connors, Chicago; Mrs. Loretta Leonard, Iowa City; Francis, Atalissa; William, Chicago; Robert, Solon; Thomas, Harold, Vernon and Clarence at home, and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Bridget's church at Nolan settlement, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. conducted by the Rev. J. J. Hopkins. Burial was in St. Bridget's cemetery.
