Mrs. C. F. Wm. Kleppe, nee Katie Marie Brendes, was born February 22, 1879 to Henry and Margaret Brendes, nee Kelling, at New Liberty, Scott Co. Iowa.

When she was 2 years old she moved with her parents to Cedar County.

On July 30, 1903, she was married to C. F. Wm. Kleppe, the Rev. F. Werning officiating. This union was blessed with 3 children.

Mrs. Kleppe was baptized and confirmed on April 21, 1912, at Peace Church, Bennett, Iowa by the Rev. C. Bendigkeit.

Since 1918 the family made their home in the Clarence community.

The deceased was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, the Women's Guild, and Royal Neighbors of America.

She passed away Thursday, October 11, 1951, at the family home, having reached the age of 72 years, 7 months and 19 days.

Surviving are her husband, two sons: Arnold and Lawrence, of Clarence; four grandchildren, Judy, Ronald, Richard and Lois Kleppe; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Trede of Holstein, Iowa and Mrs. Tillie Wisener of Tipton and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, six sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13, 1951 at 2:00 at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church, Clarence, Iowa, by the Rev. Edward J. Bowers. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Robert Rix, Mrs. Arthur Claney, Merlin Geadelmann and Norman Goldsmith with Miss Eleanor Conrad as organist. In charge of the many beautiful floral pieces were Mrs. Paul Busching, Mrs. Fred Goldsmith, Mrs. Walter Fehling. Pallbearers were: Otto Brendes, Henry Brendes, Hubert Kleppe, Edward Kleppe, Rudolph Krummel and Ralph Krummel.

Interment was made in Inland Cemetery, Bennett, Iowa.
