13 September 1951 - The Clarence Sun

William Dircks, youngest son of Fred Dircks and his wife, Christina, nee Finke, was born at Lowden, Iowa, on March 20, 1877 and passed away September 1, 1951, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 11 days. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Evangelical and Reformed church of Lowden and received his education in Lowden.

He was united in marriage with Lena Ibsen on February 25, 1899 and two children were born to this union. On August 31, 1922, he married Caroline Tonne Dresselhaus.

Mr. Dircks spent his entire life in the vicinity of Lowden and Clarence and was engaged in farming. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church of Clarence.

Mr. Dircks was preceded in death by his wife Lena Ibsen Dircks and then by his wife Caroline Dresselhaus Dircks, and also a daughter, Norma Ebert, as well as by two sisters, two brothers, and two grandchildren.

Remaining to mourn his departure are his son, Arther and daughter-in-law, Edna of Clarence; a son-in-law, William Ebert, of Glendale, Ariz; a step-son, George Dresselhaus and family, of Davenport; a step-daughter, Mrs. Norman Marvin and family, of Sault St. Marie, Mich.; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Clarence, Iowa, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 4th, 1951, with Rev. N. S. Roberts of Lowden in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Robert Rix, Mrs. Arthur Claney, Norman Bergmann and Norman Goldsmith accompanied by Eleanor Conrad. In charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. Arnold Pruess, Mrs. Walter Hartwig and Leona Meier. Pallbearers were John Greig, Wm. Schroeder, Jr., Fred Debner, Otto Hasenbank, Fred Miller and Ernest Kintzel.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery.
