Funeral services were conducted for Chas. H. Reid, Saturday afternoon at the Sheets Funeral Home in Tipton with Rev. Raymon Ferguson of the First Presbyterian church of Tipton officiating.

Charles Henry Reid was born in Lowden March 12, 1869, the son of James Porter and Harriet Wiggins Reid, pioneers of Cedar county. He passed away April 16, 1952.

As he grew up he followed the trades of carpenter and painter with his father and brothers. In 1906 he received the appointment of postmaster at Lowden during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt. During that time he became associated with the late Chas. A. Seaton in publishing the Lowden News.

In 1917 the family moved to Tipton where Mr. Reid became Recorder of Cedar County which office he held for six years. Upon leaving this office he resumed his life trade and worked at it until three years ago, when the infirmities of age became heavy.

On August 16, 1900 he was married in Lowden to Philomena Spoo. They became the parents of five children, Hale C. of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ina Barewald and Mrs. Vera Johnson of Tipton, Rodney M. of Daytona Beach, Florida and Therza of Hollywood, Calif., who with Mrs. Reid, six grandchildren and four great grand children survive him. One sister Mrs. E. R. Struck of Tipton and three brothers, Rodney R. of Lisbon, A. P. of Lowden and James A. of Santa Cruz also survive him. Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Interment was in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton.
