27 January 1955 - The Tipton Advertiser

Memorial services for Cyrus Rickard were held at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 26, at 2 o'clock with Rev. L. P. Penningroth officiating. Interment was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Rickard was born in Tipton, June 6, 1882, and passed away at his home in Tipton Monday forenoon, after an extended illness. He was married to Mary Frances Hobstetter of Tipton, Oct. 4, 1905.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Bromell; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Beach, of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Mrs. Marvel Woode, Robert and Clarice Rickard, and two great-grandchildren.

3 February 1955 - The Tipton Advertiser

Cyrus Rickard, son of the late Winchester and Raxalana Rickard was born on a farm north of Tipton, in Red Oak township, June 6, 1882, and passed away at his home in Tipton, Jan. 24, 1955, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 18 days.

October 4, 1905 he was united in marriage to Mary Francis Hobstetter. To this union was born one son, Clarence, who preceded him in death in 1937.

He was a member of the Volunteer Firemen a number of years and was an honory member at the time of his death.

He was a rural mail carrier for 17 years and then farmed before retiring to his home in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Bromell; three grandchildren, Marvel Woode, Robert Rickard & Clarice Rickard; two great-grandsons, Kenneth Woode and Marvin Rex Woode; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Beach, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 26, 1955 at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home with Rev. Louis Penningroth officiating and interment in Tipton Masonic cemetery.
