Mrs. Minnie Meyer, nee Ibsen, was born March 1, 1871 at Lowden, Iowa, to William and Bertha Schultz Ibsen.

On April 1, 1891, she was united in marriage with Dietrich Meyer, and this union was blessed with five children.

Mrs. Meyer, better known to her relatives and friends as Mother Meyer, passed away at her home in Clarence following a brief illness, having reached the age of 82 years, 5 months and 28 days. Her entire life was spent in this community.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son Lester; 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Mrs. Meyer leaves four children to mourn her passing: Elmer E. Meyer of Clarence, Marvin L. Meyer of DeWitt, Verda Walter of Davenport and Lloyd Meyer of Buchanan; also 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. One sister: Mrs. Clara Schluter of Lowden, Iowa. Five brothers: Charles, John and William Ibsen, all of Clarence; Henry and Walter Ibsen of Lowden.

Services were held on Tuesday, September 1, 1953 at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Clarence, the Rev. E. J. Bowers officiating. The music was furnished by the mixed quartette accompanied by Eleanor Conrad. In charge of the floral pieces were Mrs. Paul Hasselbusch, Sr., Mrs. John Liercke, Mrs. Walter Hartwig and Mrs. Howard Claney. Pallbearers were Kermit Roelf, Grove Penningroth, Henry Von Muenster, Howard Claney, Raymond Stange and Lawrence Kleppe.

Interment was made in the Clarence cemetery.
