7 June 1912 - The Lowden News

Carl Dresselhaus, second youngest son of the late August Dresselhaus, and his surviving wife, Wilhelmina, nee Schlueter, was born on August 7, 1886. He was christened and confirmed in Lowden. At the time of his death he was at the home of his cousin, Mr. Niemeyer, at Laporte City, Ia. On Monday evening he went to drive home the cattle and after an hour's absence the hired man was sent to find out his delay in returning to the house, where to his great astonishment found the young man's clothing lying on the shore of the pond. After some time his body was found. On Tuesday his brother, Fred, went to Laporte City and accompanied the corpse to Bennett arriving here on Wednesday morning. Funeral services were conducted at the German Ev. church at Bennett on Decoration day. Rev. Bendigkeit preached a touching sermon and the choir sang two beautiful selections. A large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to the Inland cemetery. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his mother, and one sister, Mrs. Wm. Kreinbring; and five brothers, Herman, Otto, Ernest, Fred and August. Deceased was 25 years, 9 months and 20 days of age.
