Varnum Francis Burton, was born September 15, 1878, at Lowden, Iowa, to Horace and Elizabeth Barlean Burton.

Mr. Burton passed away September 6, 1954 at Tipton, Iowa, having reached the age of 75 years, 11 months and 21 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing, three sisters: Mrs. Ethel Perrin, Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. James Coon, Clinton, Iowa and Mrs. Alice Collins, Clarence, Iowa, also several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at the Chapman Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8th, 1954, at 2 o'clock. The music was furnished by Mrs. John Paul, soloist, who was accompanied by Mrs. J. B. Lane at the piano. The service was conducted by Rev. Edward J. Bowers.

Pallbearers were: Henry Thies, Clark Workman, Kermit Roelf, August Dresden, Wm. Dettmann and Wayne Merritt.

Interment was made in the Lowden cemetery.
