Mrs. Harry Cronkhite, 77, died unexpectedly at her Stanwood home at about 8:15 a.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Cronkhite was born Grace Ostrander at Norwalk, Conn., on January 27, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Ostrander. She was married in the east to John Pugley to which union a daughter, Beatrice and a son, Buster were born. She later married George Phillips and a daughter, Viola, was born.

She married Harry Cronkhite at Stanwood, March 12, 1940, and had been a resident of Stanwood since 1934.

Mrs. Cronkhite is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Leslie Ehristman, Moline, Illinois; and Mrs. Oliver Brasmer, Yellville, Arkansas; seven stepchildren including Mrs. Clarence Linn, Tipton; and Mrs. Berniece Jones, Stanwood; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was baptized in the Baptist Church in Conn. and was a member of the church.

One son, Buster, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, December 24, 1955, at 1:30 in the Stanwood Methodist Church with Rev. Thos. Stewart, officiating. Music was furnished by Ruth Swift accompanied by Helen Workman. In charge of the flowers were Betty Lang and Grace McClellan. Pallbearers were: Dale Wood, L. W. Meyer, Ed Meyer, Art Ropa, Burr Aylsworth and Marvin Rohwedder.

Interment was in the Stanwood Cemetery. Chapman Funeral Home of Clarence was in charge of arrangements.
