William August Ibsen, was born October 10, 1872 in Cedar County, Iowa, son of William and Bertha Ibsen, nee Schultz.

He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church at Lowden, Iowa.

On February 21, 1901, he was married to Louise Schaefer, and they have been privileged to share almost 55 years of married life. This union was blessed with four children.

Mr. Ibsen spent his entire life time in the Lowden-Clarence community. The family moved to Clarence in 1928.

Mr. Ibsen passed away Monday, November 21, 1955 at the family home, having reached the age of 83 years, 1 month and 11 days. The deceased was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; two sons, Arthur Ibsen of Clarence, Lawrence Ibsen of Ryan, Iowa; 1 daughter, Esther, Mrs. Melvin Hickey of Central City, Iowa. Six grandchildren and two great grand children. A sister, Mrs. Henry Schlueter of Lowden; and four brothers: Henry Ibsen of Lowden, John and Charles Ibsen of Clarence and Walter Ibsen of Lowden.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Frieda; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Meyer, Mrs. Emma Stoecker and Mrs. Lena Dircks. Two brothers passed away in infancy.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 25th, 1955, with the Rev. Edward J. Bowers in charge. The music was furnished by the Mixed Quartet of the church with Karen Geadelmann at the organ. In charge of the floral tributes were Lucille Kucera, Lillian Brendes and Gertrude Hartwig. The pallbearers were: Chester Ibsen, Arlo Ibsen, Elmer Ibsen, Arthur Dircks, Leonard Schaefer, Lawrence Dreyer.

Interment was made at the St. John's Cemetery.
