Esther M. Curran, the youngest of the eight children of Ira and Cordelia Hagar Brink, was born on a farm near Clarence, Iowa on January 6, 1869, and she passed away at her home in Clarence on Friday, October 28, 1955, at the mature age of 86 years, 9 months and 22 days.

She was united in marriage to John B. Curran on March 17, 1891. They observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary on March 17, 1941, and Mr. Curran passed away on December 11th of that year.

Mrs. Curran united with the Dayton Valley Wesleyan Methodist Church in girlhood. After moving to Clarence, she transferred her membership to The Methodist Church in Clarence where she remained a faithful member until her death. She retained her membership in the Dayton Valley Woman's Missionary Society, and she was also a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service in town.

Surviving to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Florence, now Mrs. Harry Feddersen and Marjorie, now Mrs. Ray Steege, both of Clarence; four grandchildren, Eldon and Merle Feddersen and Robert and Jo Ann Steege Wenndt; two great-grandchildren; and other more distant relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted in The Methodist Church in Clarence at 1:30 o'clock on Monday afternoon, October 31, 1955, by the Rev. Forrest E. Flowers of The Methodist Church and the Rev. Elsie Stevens of the Dayton Valley Wesleyan Methodist Church. Music was provided by a ladies trio composed of Mesdames Robert Joslin, Roland Mingst and Eugene McCaw who sang "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind" and "Peace, I Leave With You". Mrs. Marvin Schilling was at the organ. In charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. Irma Bachman and Mrs. Elwood Kirkpatrick. The pallbearers were: Walter Leinbaugh, Hugo Rix, John Hasenbank, Durant Rogers, Howard Claney and Henry Feddersen.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery.
