7 July 1955 - The Clarence Sun

Mrs. Ida Baughman, was born on November 19, 1865 near Huntsdale, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Linn.

Her parents died when she was a growing girl, so she stayed with an aunt and uncle Okland Lefever until her marriage to Elias Baughman on April 17, 1884. There home was in that community until they came to Iowa on March 1, 1901. To them were born three daughters all of whom survive, Mrs. Pearl Kelly of Clarence, Mrs. Rae Baker of Stanwood and Della Baughman of Harrisburg, Penn.

Mr. and Mrs. Baughman prospered in this community finally buying an acreage on the west edge of Clarence which was to be their home until Mr. Baughman's death in July, 1933.

The passage of the years brought to her a gradual decline of body and mind from which she entered into rest on July 2, 1955. Then she lacked but a little over 4 months of reaching 90 years of age.

Many years ago she made a confession of her faith in Christ and was baptized affiliating with the Church of Christ. In her residence in this community she supported the Presbyterian Church and was active in their Ladies Aid Society.

Besides the daughters above named, she leaves 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great children.

Funeral services were conducted from the Chapman Funeral Home on the morning of July 5th, 1955 by Gordon Smith. Music was furnished by Helen Lane.

She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Clarence cemetery.
