John Klatt was born north of Clarence, Iowa, on May 14, 1882; a son of John and Hanna Klatt, nee Henrichs.

He was a baptized and confirmed member of St. John's Church.

On October 15, 1908, he was married to Martha Fehling and this union was blessed with two daughters. Mrs. Klatt passed away October 26, 1953.

Mr. and Mrs. Klatt farmed south of Clarence until the fall of 1945 when they moved to their present home in Clarence.

Mr. Klatt entered into rest on April 15, 1955, having reached the age of 72 years, 11 months and 1 day.

He leaves to mourn his passing: Irene, Mrs. Edwin Meyer and Leona, Mrs. Otto Frey, both of Clarence, Iowa; also three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Wm. Hasenbank of Clarence. Two sisters and 1 brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 18th, 1955, with Rev. Edward J. Bowers in charge. The music was furnished by the mixed quartet of the church with Rosalee Hartwig as organist. In charge of the floral tributes were Mrs. Amanda Schnabel, Mrs. Harold Bouschlicher and Mrs. Norbert Ebert. Pallbearers were: Louis Hansen, Howard Thien, Henry Horstmann, Fred Evers, Wilfred Pruess and Arthur Robinson.

Interment was made in St. John's cemetery.
