2 February 1956 - The Clarence Sun

Darlene was born of Milton and Stella Hubler on July 28, 1926, near Mechanicsville, Iowa. She was the seventh child in this family of nine children. She was well known by many throughout Cedar County, where she went to school and spent her entire life.

She was united in marriage to Earl N. Wells of Stanwood, Iowa, February 21, 1952. This young couple made their home at Clarence, Iowa, until the past few months, when they moved to Stanwood because of Darlene's health.

On January 22, 1956, Darlene, at the age of 29, departed this life, following an illness of several months.

Three months prior to her passing, she became a Christian, personally receiving and confessing Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour, committing her soul to Him for safe keeping throughout eternity. These last three months of her earthly sojourn will be especially well remembered by those who witnessed her influence in turning the hearts of many toward her Saviour who sustained her so wonderfully with a calm constant faith in the face of extreme suffering.

She is survived by her husband; six brothers and two sisters: Maynard, Gilbert, William and Richard all of West Branch; Willard of Tipton; Kenneth of Lisbon; Geneveive, Mrs. Harold Williams of Mechanicsville; and Helen, Mrs. Duayne Walter of Tipton.

Funeral services were held at the Tipton Bible Church, January 25, 1956, Pastor Kenneth Carroll officiating. Interment was made at the Tipton Cemetery.
