Charles Drake, passed away at his home north of Stanwood on Thursday, July 11th, 1957, after a lingering illness, at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Mr. Drake was born at Clarence, Iowa, October 15, 1880. He married Ruth Betzer in 1905, and the couple made their home through the years near Stanwood, Clarence (where he ran a dairy business for several years) and Springville, finally returning to the Stanwood community. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago.

He became a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Stanwood in 1910. He served as elder in the Presbyterian Churches at Clarence and Springville.

Charles is survived by his wife; two sons, Clarence of Anamosa and Melvin of Maquoketa; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Byron and Glenn Drake of Tipton, Mo.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 13th, 1957 in the United Presbyterian Church in Stanwood conducted by the Rev. Ralph A. Edie, pastor. The pallbearers were Elmer Bixler of Stanwood, John Bixler, Douglas Cashman, Marvin Schilling, Robert Kelly and Clarence Miller, all of Clarence.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery.
