William Schroeder, Sr. was born June 30, 1875 in Mechlenberg, Germany, son of Henry and Henrietta Hoffner Schroeder.

Mr. Schroeder came to the United States with his parents when he was 5 years old.

On March 17, 1898 he was married to Marie Klatt and this marriage was blessed with 6 children.

He passed away on Thursday, November 5th, 1959 at the home of his son Hugo, having reached the age of 84 years, 4 months and 5 days.

Mr. Schroeder was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church and Mt. Hope Lodge A.F. & A.M. at Clarence.

Surviving are four sons: William Jr., of Clarence; August of Tipton; Elmer of Clarence, and Hugo of Lowden; also two daughters: Mrs. Wm. Geadelmann and Mrs. Herman Schwien, both of Clarence, along with 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

His wife, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 7th, 1959, conducted by Rev. Edward J. Bowers. The music furnished by a male quartet was accompanied by organist, Mary Bowers. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Erwin Niermeyer and Mrs. Ralph Andresen. Pallbearers were Arnold Mente, Ralph Andresen, Sylvan Derynck, Raymond Hasenbank, Ted McCroskey and Marvin Goldsmith.

Interment was made in St. John's Cemetery.
