5 November 1959 - The Clarence Sun

Edna Maud Robinson was born on March 16, 1879 to Fred and Ida Hecht in Clarence, Iowa, and died at the Woods Nursing Home in Tipton, where she had made her home for the past month or so, on November 2, 1959 at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 16 days.

She was married to Silas Robinson on January 4, 1899 where they lived on a farm adjacent to Clarence. To this union was born two sons, Earl who passed away on February 28, 1956, and Verne who now lives in Davenport, Iowa.

She had lived in the Clarence community all her life and served the community well until the time of her inability to do so. She served as Secretary to the Eastern Star for twenty years. She became a member of the Methodist Church in 1894. She always showed an interest in the Church when the pastor called on her from time to time.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 12, 1917 and her son Earl, February 28, 1956, and one brother Elmer. Surviving are her son, Verne of Davenport, three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Miller, Marjory Hecht, both of Clarence and Mrs. Leo Twachtmann of Lowden and a brother of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and three grandchildren.

It was always an inspiration to visit with Mrs. Robinson and to know that in spite of her inability, she was determined to provide her own needs. She was one who was not sorry for herself, but faced her condition with the stamina and courage that could not help but make those of us who are strong look with amazement at her ability to do for herself the needs of her life.

Funeral services were held at the Chapman Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 1959, being conducted by Rev. Cyril Ashton, Methodist Minister. The music was furnished by Mrs. John Paul as soloist and Mrs. Robert Joslin the organist. Pallbearers were Lee Freeman, Vern Freeman, Harold Dewell, Arthur Claney, Grover Penningroth and Russell Lovell.

Interment was made in the Clarence Cemetery.
