Dorathea Dodenhoff 1840-1910

Dorathea Ibsen was born at Ding, Province Hanover, Germany, on February 2nd, 1840. She was married to Claus Dodenhoff in 1863 at Kadenberge, Amt Neuhaus, Province Hannover. They came to America in 1867 and have resided in this vicinity ever since, residing on the farm until about ten years ago, when they moved to the village of Massillon.

Mrs. Dodenhoff got effected with blood poisoning about two weeks before her demise. It started from a small sore on one of her hands, getting worse daily until death relieved her. She died at their home at Massillon on Thursday, May 5th, at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 3 days.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dodenhoff, but two sons and one daughter preceded their mother to the better world. There survive to mourn Mrs. Dodenhoff's demise her sorrowing husband, two sons, three daughters, ten grandchildren and several other near relatives, including her two brothers, who reside in this neighborhood.

Mrs. Dodenhoff always appeared of good health, prior to her last ailment. She was always industrious. She was a loving wife and mother and a good neighbor.

Funeral occurred Sunday afternoon with services conducted by Rev. Werning of Lowden, in the Massillon church and interment was made in the Massillon cemetery. May she rest in peace.
