Mrs. Emma Lietz Answers Last Summons

After an illness of a week which ended in pneumonia, Mrs. Emma Lietz passed on to her eternal reward and the joy of being reunited with her loved ones gone before. She was most tenderly cared for during her last illness by her devoted daughter, Miss Emma, who has always been at home with her mother.

Mrs. Lietz was a hard working woman, giving her very best efforts to those whom she served all respecting her for her honest service. She loved her home, her family and her church, which she faithfully attended until failing health kept her away.

Emma Laura Stritzel was born in Stolpe, Germany, June 10, 1847, and died in Tipton, Iowa, March 9, 1932, age 84 years, 8 months and 29 days. She was married in Germany to Henry F. Lietz Nov. 11, 1873. To this union there were born nine children, three of whom survive. Amos C. of Washington, D.C.; Emma B. at home and Henry R. of Davenport, together with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The husband was called home June 25, 1889. Mrs. Lietz together with her husband and family came to America in 1881, coming direct to Clarence, where they resided one year, then moving to Tipton, where she had since resided. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at the age of 14 and has been a communicant member of this faith ever since.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Lutheran Church, Rev. C. A. Jacobi officiating, and interment made in the family lot in Masonic cemetery.
