Last rites for William August Stolte, 65, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Aug. 2 with the Rev. Paul Showalter officiating. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wallace and Raymond Moeller, Harold Hensch, LeRoy Ruchotzke and Gerald and Hilbert Stolte. Mrs. Wallace Moeller and Mrs. Lynn Phelps were flower attendants. Judy Thumma was organist.

Mr. Stolte's body was found July 30 in a building on property owned by John Bartlett to the north of property used by Bill Dinse. The building was used by Don's Super Market for the storage of shelving, lockers, lumber and empty cartons. No food of any kind has been stored in the building.

Three city employees, Harold Turner, Don Ford and Doug Grove, were cutting brush on the west side of the alley between the storage buildings and Don's and the Superior Dairy. When they noticed an unusual odor they investigated and Turner found Stolte's body about two thirds of the way back in the building. Death was due to natural causes a doctor reported.

Stolte had last been seen July 12 which was set as the day of his death.

The son of Louis Henry and Sara Christine Rice Stolte, he was born at Lowden July 13, 1905 and attended the rural schools of Cedar county. He was a Tipton resident most of his life, working as a farm worker.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah, Calamus; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Gottschalk, Lowden; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Bertha) Sander, Lowden; Mrs. August (Ella) Ruchotzke, Clarence; Mrs. Walter (Clara) Moeller, Tipton; Mrs. Anna Hensch, Bennett and Mrs. Robert (Edna) Marks, West Liberty and 3 brothers, Hugo, Stanwood; Edwin, West Liberty and Raymond, Mechanicsville.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
