Henry Wiebel was born on Oct. 1, 1827, at Groszen-Suest, near Gehrdau, Province Hannover, Germany. He died at his home half a mile north of Lowden Monday evening, April 3rd, 1911, of heart trouble and infirmities of old age at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 2 days.

Those survive to mourn his demise 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wiebel was married to Elizabeth Wenndt in 1851. In 1856 they came to America and settled first in DuPage county, Ill., in 1865 they came to Lowden and resided near here up to the time of their death.

Mrs. Wiebel died on Feb. 2nd, 1885. They had nine children, all of whom like their mother, preceded their father to the better world.

After his retirement Mr. Wiebel resided with his son Fred and family on the old home place and after both Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wiebel, one after the other had passed out of this life, the aged grandfather, still at the home place, resided with his grandson, Herman Wiebel, and family.

Grandfather Wiebel was a fine old man. He was friendly to all whom he met, he was dearly loved by all of his descendants and was well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the Lowden Lutheran church, was one of that church's first members and organizers and builders of the church.

Funeral was held yesterday forenoon with services at the Lutheran church. Rev. J. H. Brammer officiated. The pall bearers were Carl Kroemer Sr., Henry Hinrichs, Albert Schaefer, Ernst Hoffmeier, Henry Licht Sr., and Fred Sander. Mr. Wiebel was buried in the Lutheran cemetery.
