7 April 1911 - The Lowden News

Henry S. Moore was born at Ashtabula, Ohio, on November 20, 1831. He died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Wm. Parr, at Webb, Iowa, on April 2nd, 1911, at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Mr. Moore came with his parents to Cedar County, Iowa, in 1854. In about the year of 1867 he was married to Miss Cynthia Hoskins. About 12 years later the family moved from Cedar County to Kansas where Mr. Moore lost his wife and daughter who are buried in Kansas. About 18 years ago he returned to Lowden and continued to make this his home.

In early life he joined the M. E. church in this vicinity and remained an active and faithful member until the end. During late years he was trustee of the Lowden M. E. church and at the same time also was sexton for that church and performed the work of these offices most efficiently.

A little before last Christmas Mr. Moore went west for a visit with relatives; visiting first with his sister, Mrs. George Swarms, of Glidden, Iowa, and later he went to Webb and visited with his sister, Mrs. Wm. Parr. While there he took sick and was not able to return to Lowden as he had intended. He gradually got worse and finally the end came, and his western relatives and friends layed his remains to rest at Webb.

There survive him to mourn his demise four sisters, namely, Mrs. Caroline Cook of Kansas, Mrs. Charity Henry of Tipton, Ia.; Mrs. Lydia Swarms of Glidden, Ia., and Mrs. Harriet Parr of Webb, Iowa.

Mr. Moore was a kind and friendly man and a good man, he was a friend to all, particularly to the children; ever body liked him and the little ones in town loved him dearly.
