21 April 1932 - The Tipton Advertiser

Moscow - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Rochester Methodist church for Mrs. Clinton Wood, who died Saturday at her home in Moline, Ill. The services were conducted by Rev. W. E. Van Buren, assisted by the Rev. Otis Moore, and burial was in the Rochester cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bernet sang "Going Down the Valley", "No Disappointment in Heaven" and "Good Morning Up There" with Miss Horn at the piano. The pallbearers were George, Frank and Frederick Marolf, Rufus Howe, Frank Chapman and Allie Straub.

She was born Nancy Josephine Cronkhite, Feb. 28, 1854, in Jones county, where she grew to womanhood, and where she was married to Clinton Wood. Shortly after their marriage they moved to a farm in Cedar county, where they resided for 32 years, in 1916 they moved to Tipton, where they lived until the death of Mr. Wood on Feb. 8, 1922, after which Mrs. Wood moved to Moline, Ill. where she made her home with her youngest son. She was an active member of the Methodist church.

Mrs. Wood was an ardent lover of the church of Christ, and while she always considered the Rochester society as her home church she was ever ready to affiliate with and aid in the maintenance of any congregation in which her lot was cast. She was a woman of rare domestic qualities, a home maker in the true meaning of that term. The attendance of a large number of former associates at her funeral was an eloquent testimony to the warm affection and high esteem in which she was held by friends and acquaintances of the passing years.

She is survived by three sons, Frank Wood of Eldon, Earl Wood of Muscatine and Carr Wood of Moline; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Long, Tipton; Mrs. Eva Farley, Lisbon and Mrs. Nettie Bisbee of Los Angeles, California.
