Final rites for Patrick J. McGuire, 85, were held at St. Mary's Church Oct. 5 with the Rev. Eugene Benda officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Cedar Valley.

Pallbearers were Michael McGuire, George Roberts, George Spies, George Blake, John Schneider and Ray Burkett. The flag was presented at the grave by the Tipton VFW and American Legion.

Mr. McGuire died in a physician's office in Davenport, Oct. 2.

He was born at Twin Lakes, Minn. Jan. 31, 1887 and was married to Genevieve Fitzpatrick at Cedar Valley in 1931.

Mr. McGuire was active in road construction and lived in Tipton for more than 20 years.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Charles Jones and Mrs. Joseph Doyle, both of Davenport and Mrs. William Egan, Chicago; 15 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Catherine Hagen, Forest City and a brother, Mr. F. McGuire, Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
