Funeral services for Harland Robert Russell, 74, were held at the United Presbyterian church at Mechanicsville Aug. 30 with the Rev. Norman Lawton officiating. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.

Pallbearers were Narvis Robinson, Thomas Siver, Glenn Hansen, Leonard Streets, Charles Holcomb and Kenneth Pieper. Vocalist was Leo Frederick. Horner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Russell died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Aug. 28.

The son of Robert Henry and Minnie Miller Russell, he was born in Jones county Nov. 5, 1897. He was educated in the rural Jones county schools and Cornell Academy, Mt. Vernon.

He was married to Edith Grassfield at Morley Dec. 31, 1924. A retired farmer, he had lived near Morley and in Mechanicsville. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias at Martelle and the Jones County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Morley Faith United Methodist (EUB) church.

He is survived by a son, Everett, Mechanicsville and a brother, Willard, Clarence and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister.
