Stanwood - Funeral services for George E. "Jiggs" Nanke, 56, were held Feb. 2 at Chapman's funeral home, Clarence, with the Rev. DuWayne Kirkeide officiating. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Mr. Nanke died at Veteran's hospital, Iowa City, Jan. 30. He had been taken there by ambulance 2 hours earlier. He was born at What Cheer Dec. 15, 1915, and lived in Stanwood most of his life. He worked for the Chicago North Western Railway Co. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Nanke was married to the former Gene Rhodes, who survives. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Walter, Mechanicsville and Carl, Stanwood; a stepson, William Rhodes, Watertown, S.D.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Allen (Betty) Kimball, Marion and 6 step grandchildren.
