Reiner Ahrens who for several years resided with his children in Clinton county died at Charlotte Monday morning of dropsy, at the age of 70 years. Mr. Ahrens had been ailing for the past six months.

There survive to mourn Mr. Ahrens' demise two sons, four daughters and sixteen grandchildren.

The remains of Mr. Ahrens arrived here at Lowden on the train from Charlotte Tuesday noon. W. C. Endorf of Charlotte and George Thoeming of Davenport came here with the corpse. They were met here by W. A. Licht of near Toronto, Wm. Schroeder of Montpelier, Ia., and Herman Ahrens of Minneapolis and they took the remains of Mr. Ahrens to the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Licht near Toronto.

Funeral was held Wednesday with services at the W. A. Licht home and interment in the Van Horn cemetery south of Lowden. Rev. Gatermann of Wheatland officiated.
