William Hemphill, Clarinda, formerly of Stanwood, died June 17 in an Omaha, Nebr. hospital, following a lingering illness. Memorial services were held June 19 in Clarinda.

He is survived by his wife and 7 children and 2 sisters.

Mr. Hemphill came to Stanwood in 1926 with his parents, the Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Hemphill. His father was pastor of the United Presbyterian Church until 1934 when they moved to Red Oak. He graduated from the Stanwood high school with the 1928 class.

His wife is the grand-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davidson, who lived on the farm at the south edge of town which is now the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Coppess, whose daughter, Mrs. Grace Loehr, was Mrs. Hemphill's mother.
