August Dresden was born at Lowden, Iowa on September 6, 1874 to Adolph and Doris Kroeger Dresden. August departed his earthly life at 8:10 a.m. at the Moline Public Hospital in Moline, Ill. on Saturday, March 9th 1963 after having attained the age of 88 years, 6 months and 3 days.

Mr. Dresden's occupation in life was farming until his retirement several years ago. He had spent 42 years in the Clarence community.

He is survived by a daughter Mrs. Pauline Allemang of Rock Island, Illinois, with whom he had lived for the last couple of years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth Kahler Dresden and two sons August Jr. and Fred.

Funeral services were held at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 1963 with Dr. C. W. Ebbert of the Clarence St. John's United Church of Christ conducting the service. The music was furnished by Mrs. Robert Woode and Mrs. Arthur Claney with Mrs. Robert Joslin as the organist. The casket bearers were Alfred Pruess, Grover Penningroth, Kermit Roelf, Clark Workman, Arnold Pruess and Henry Dircks.

Interment was made at St. John's Cemetery.
