Cedar Rapids - Lora E. McGowan, 96, Cedar Rapids widow of Thomas McGowan, died Oct. 29 following a lingering illness.
Born at Stanwood Nov. 22, 1867, she had lived in Cedar Rapids 40 years.
Mrs. McGowan was a member of the Methodist church. Her husband died 35 years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Gladys Barker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Frank (Rosamond) Stewart of Cedar Rapids; one step-daughter, Mrs. C. C. Householder of Lone Rock; three sisters, Hollis Wilson of Stanwood, Etta Smith of Stanwood, and Susie Thompson of Twin Falls, Idaho; one brother, Jerome Wilson of Sioux City; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services Monday at 2 p.m. at the Stanwood cemetery by Rev. B. L. McDonald of the Stanwood Methodist church.
