Emma Collins, daughter of Stanton and Electa Ann Collins, was born August 22, 1858, at York Prairie, Iowa, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clark Mowry in Bennett, Iowa, on March 26, 1948. On May 14, 1877, she was united in marriage to Daniel B. Smith and lived on a farm near Bennett, later moving to town. To this union twelve children were born, six of whom preceded her in death. Her husband also preceded her in death. She is survived by six children: Electa May Wright of Waterloo, Iowa; Orville Smith of Muscatine, Iowa; J. W. Smith, Lillian Barrett, Ella Mowry and Nellie Mowry of Bennett. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Smith united with the United Brethren church of York Prairie, later transferring to the Methodist church of Bennett. She was active in church work, having taught a Sunday school class for years. She was a faithful wife and mother.

The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. C. C. Winter at the Sheets funeral home in Tipton on Sunday afternoon, March 28, and burial in the Inland cemetery near Bennett.
