4 November 1976 Sun-News

Randall F. Rekemeyer, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rekemeyer, Bennett, was killed when the car he was driving overturned in a ditch off Iowa 130, 2 miles northwest of Plainview about 10 p.m. Oct. 29.

The car in which Rekemeyer and Mitchell Spickermann, 19, Bennett, was a passenger, was southbound when, in rounding the sharp curve by the quarry, Rekemeyer swerved the car to miss a dog that was on the highway.

Scott county peace officers said that the car left the road on the south, nosed into a bank and turned over on the roof. Rekemeyer was partially out of the vehicle. Spickermann, who was not seriously hurt, was thrown from the car.

Rekemeyer, who graduated from Bennett high school in June, was attending Muscatine Junior college.

He was born in Davenport and attended the Bennett schools. He was editor of the Bennetteer and a member of the National Honor society.

He is survived by his parents, 2 sisters, Kimberly, at home and Pamel J., Waverly and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Alvena Henricksen, Davenport.
