Dell Henderson Dies Suddenly
Body of Aged Farmer Found on Floor Of His Home on Farm South of Tipton

Dell Henderson, an aged farmer living alone on his small farm south of Tipton, was found dead on the floor last Monday morning. The discovery was made by Ora Mayes, one of his neighbors. Mr. Mayes passed the home that morning and noticed that no one seemed to be about the place and that no smoke was coming from the chimney. At first he thought nothing of the circumstance, but later went back to the Henderson home to investigate, and found the dead body fully dressed, lying on the floor.

Coroner McCormick who was summoned, made a careful investigation of all surrounding circumstances and found that the death was due to natural causes and had probably occurred five or six hours before he arrived at the scene. Everything indicated that the deceased had arisen from bed that morning, had dressed as usual, had started a fire in the kitchen stove, and was about his usual work in the house when stricken by the fatal attack.

The deceased lived alone on a small farm south of Tipton which he owned. His wife died two years ago. Surviving him are his two sons Fred, of Rock Island, and William, of Tipton.

D. W. Henderson, son of Daniel and Hannah Henderson was born in Cedar county, Iowa, Oct. 11, 1849, and passed away at his home four miles south of Tipton, Monday morning, Nov. 10th, being at the time of his death 75 years and 30 days of age.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Drake, on July 6, 1871. To this union two sons were born, William, of Tipton, and Fred, of Rock Island, Ill.

His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 1922.

He is survived by his two sons and their wives, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Slater, of Wilton, Ia., and Mrs. Ida Hirschman, of Welling, Oklahoma. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

He united with the Christian church at Moscow when a young man. Mr. Henderson lived all his life in Cedar county, except one year, which he spent in Muscatine. He was a kind and loving father, a friend to all and always ready to make sacrifice if need be, for the happiness of others.

Funeral services were conducted from the Mt. Zion church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. A. W. Straub, and interment was made in the Masonic cemetery.
