Elias Gilman Gerber, was born at Guthrie Center, Iowa, on Jan. 25, 1885, the son of John and Elma Elizabeth Gerber and passed away June 1, 1952 at his home in Tipton at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 7 days after a short illness.

He was united in marriage to Abbie C. on the 29th of August, 1932. He had lived in and around Tipton since 1900. Mr. Gerber worked for the city of Tipton for about eleven years and in later years did carpentry work.

He was a good and faithful friend to everyone who knew him. He was in the Iowa National Guard for three years from 1905 to 1908 and had a life membership in the Moose Lodge, No. 730.

Survivors include his wife, Abbie, three daughters by a former marriage, Cora Helble and Louise Borglum of New Hartford, Helen Kephart of Cedar Falls, Joyce Seebeck of Bennett, a stepdaughter, also his aged father John Gerber of Tipton, three brothers and one sister, John, Harry and Roscoe, all of Tipton, and Stella Morgan of Cedar Falls. There are nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 3, 1952, at the Sheets funeral home in Tipton with Rev. Harold Kratzat of the Evangelical and Reformed church officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
