Funeral services for Melvin Rekemeyer, 52, a Cedar county farmer for many years, were held May 8 at Davenport with burial in Inland cemetery near Bennett.

Mr. Rekemeyer died May 5 in Davenport Osteopathic hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.

He was born Aug. 6, 1914, in Cedar county. He married Adeline Riessen July 8, 1937, in Nashua.

The couple farmed in Cedar county until moving to Davenport in 1960. Mr. Rekemeyer was employed at Oscar Mayer and Co., Davenport, and had served on the Bennett Community school board.

Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Lamoine, Bettendorf and Dr. Ross Rekemeyer, Story City, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Sue) Hillman, Wheatland; his mother, Mrs. Amanda Rekemeyer, Davenport; 6 brothers, Norman, Fred Jr., Dallas and Gaylon, all of Bennett; and Harry and Roger, Davenport; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lorane Wiese, Dixon; Mrs. Nelda Riessen, Davenport and Mrs. Reid Borchers, Wheatland, and 4 grandchildren.
