Mrs. McNee, 73, Is Found Dead

Mechanicsville - Mrs. Grover (Bertha) McNee, 73, died unexpectedly at her home Wednesday morning of an apparent heart attack. Her husband found her dead in a chair, when he returned to the house after being outside for a short while. She had been in failing health for the past year.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian church, Mechanicsville. Rev. George Gallaher will officiate.

Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home, Lisbon, after 1 p.m. Thursday. The body will also be shown after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Funeral services were held Friday for Mrs. Bertha McNee, 73, at the Presbyterian church, with Rev. James Remer, Mt. Vernon, officiating.

Mrs. McNee died unexpectedly at her home Thursday, March 29. She had been in failing health the past year.

Bertha Moir Jackson McNee was born Aug. 6, 1893, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Margaret Moir) Jackson, at their home south of Mechanicsville.

She was married on Nov. 30, 1921, to Grover McNee at the home of her parents.

Mrs. McNee was a longtime member of the Presbyterian church. Flowers and gardening were her hobbies, which she shared with others.

She is survived by her husband, Grover McNee; brothers, Allen D. Jackson and Harry Jackson, and a sister, Mrs. Glen (Nancy) McKibben; 3 nieces and 1 nephew.

Arthur Vanderbilt, Lester Nicoll, Otto Pruess, David Edwards, George Park and William Hass were pallbearers. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Morgan Funeral Service, Lisbon, in charge.

Out of town guests attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Larkin, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rate and Mrs. Don L. Reece, all of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Norman McNee, Watkins; Dr. B. T. McCready, Mrs. Ella Horn, Mrs. C. W. Hollingsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Reece and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Filip, all of Cedar Rapids.
