Final rites for Earl M. J. Escher, 79, will be held at First Methodist church at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, with the Rev. E. H. Lauer officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sheets and Son funeral home.

Mr. Escher died unexpectedly at the home of his sister, Mrs. Edna Eilers, early Memorial day.

The son George H. and Carrie Fraseur Escher, he was born near Tipton Aug. 26, 1887 and was a lifelong resident of the Tipton area. He graduated from Tipton high school and attended Cedar Rapids Business college and Iowa State University.

He was married to Nona Otheal Dallas at Tipton Feb. 21, 1911. She preceded him in death in 1965.

He farmed near Tipton until he retired and moved to Tipton.

He was president of the Cedar County Fair association of which he had been a member of the board of directors for more than 20 years, president of the Red Oak cemetery board and a director of the Tipton State bank.

He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Eilers, 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gorda Safley, Tipton and Mrs. Eda Escher, Cedar Rapids and several nieces and nephews.
