Last rites for D. J. (Dick) Meyer, 73, Bennett, were held at Peace United Church of Christ, Bennett, Oct. 26 with the Rev. Robert Ahrendt officiating. Burial was in Inland cemetery.

Pallbearers were LeRoy Kemmann, Gary Schlueter, Albert and Lloyd Meyer, Edwin Decker and Lowell Henry. Ernest Riedesel was vocalist and Mrs. Riedesel, organist. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Pollock, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkening and Carrie Wagner were in charge of flowers. The Rixe-Lausen post of the American Legion presented the flag at the graveside.

Mr. Meyer died at his home in Bennett Oct. 24.

The son of Johann Dietrich and Meta (Dreyer) Meyer, he was born at Steelville, Ill. April 28, 1895 and was educated in the Lowden schools. He was married to Meta Schlueter at Lowden Jan. 5, 1922.

They farmed in the Clarence area for 17 years, retiring in 1961 when they moved to Bennett. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Bennett American Legion. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Bennett.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, Harlan, Mechanicsville; Dwaine, Bennett; Richard, Clarence; 2 daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Jeanette) Brendes, Olin; Mrs. John (Betty Ann) Miller, Mechanicsville; 15 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, a half sister, Mrs. Francis Schoff, Lowden, and a half brother, Elmer VonRoden, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by a brother, 3 half brothers and 2 half sisters.
