Final Rites Monday at Lutheran Church for Geo. McKinley

Mr. George E. McKinley, a life long resident of Cedar county, died in Cherokee, Iowa, Friday morning, Aug. 31, 1951 aged 77 years. He was born on a farm near Buchanan, Iowa, May 5, 1874, the only son of Wm. and Mary McKinley. He received his education in the country schools of that vicinity. Mr. McKinley was united in marriage to Austa Seitzsinger, also of Cedar county who preceded him in death in 1937. Two sisters, Mrs. Dale Brown and Mrs. George Gibson preceded him in death.

A son, Donald McKinley of Temple City, Cal., and a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Peterson of Bennett, one grandson, and a cousin, survive him. Mr. McKinley farmed for a number of years before moving to Tipton where, after the death of his wife, he made his home with a cousin, Mr. Lewis Mathews. Mr. McKinley was a life-long member of Manitou Lodge No. 8 I.O.O.F., Tipton, also a member of the Helping Hand Rebekah Lodge. No. 517. He united with Trinity Lutheran church and remained a constant member until his death.

Interment was at Masonic cemetery with Rev. Raymond Tiemeyer officiating.
