Leander J. Kiser, 84, a retired farmer, died Friday in Hershey hospital, Muscatine, following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 19, 1868, in Sugar Creek township, and was a lifelong resident of this community. Mr. Kiser married Nora Wilkinson on Feb. 25, 1892.

He was a member of the Sugar Creek Presbyterian church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Griffith funeral home. The Rev. Hugh P. Roberts officiated and burial was at Sharon cemetery in Cedar county.

Surviving: the widow, one daughter, Mrs. Robert Barnes, Kent, O.; one brother, Newton, of Vancouver, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
