Jos. A. Patterson, Tipton Business Man, Passed Away Sunday

The Tipton friends were greatly shocked Sunday at the news of the passing of Jos. A. Patterson, highly esteemed Tipton business man, who had been ill only a few days preceding his sudden demise.

Joseph Alexander Patterson was born in Red Oak township, in Cedar county, Ia, August 5th, 1867, and passed away at his home in Tipton, Sunday, February 9th, 1936, at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 4 days.

He was the only son in the family of three children of James and Isabel Patterson. He made his home in Red Oak neighborhood until he moved to Tipton nearly 28 years ago.

Mr. Patterson was married to Miss Ella Shaffer on December 24, 1901. A daughter was born on October 12th, 1903. She lived only a short time.

Besides his wife he leaves one sister, Mary Patterson, as well as two nieces and three nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the late home with the Rev. H. N. Poston officiating. Interment was made in the Red Oak Grove cemetery.
