Last rites for Mrs. LaVern (Emma Jean Anna) Pruess, 55, were held at 1 p.m. in the United Presbyterian church in Mechanicsville, Aug. 17, with the Rev. Donald Wooge officiating. Burial was in St. John's cemetery at Clarence.

Pallbearers were Ernest Von Behren, Paul Schnipkoweit, Gary Doermann, Henry Thies, Sidney Cook and Ron Benfer. Mrs. Henry Thies and Mrs. Paul Schnipkoweit were in charge of flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Knapp were vocalists and Mrs. E. H. Littig was organist. The Horner Funeral home was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Pruess died Aug. 14.

The daughter of William S. and Ida Louise Hartwig Sonnemaker, she was born Nov. 20, 1920 and graduated from Clarence high school in 1938. She was married to LaVern Pruess at Tipton, Aug. 3, 1946.

She lived in the Mechanicsville-Clarence area all of her life. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and the UPW of Mechanicsville.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Pat (Patricia) Von Behren, Durham, NC.; a son, Rex, Iowa City, her mother, Mrs. Ida Hasenbank, Clarence; 2 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Honora Decker, Clarence and Bonnie Johnson, Placentia, Calif.
