Funeral services are planned for Thursday, Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden for Alfred Wiebel, 71, of Lowden. Mr Wiebel died Tuesday morning in the Clarence Nursing Home.

Alfred was born July 17, 1903 at Ocheyedan, Iowa to August and Amanda Oehlert Wiebel. He worked as a hired hand for a number of farmers around Lowden until he retired in 1973.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church. He served as church elder for six years and sang in the mixed and male choirs for about 49 years.

Survivors include two sisters, Angelica of Lowden and Marie of Davenport, 3 brothers, Walter of Lowden, Gerhard and Hugo of Davenport. Also a number of nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
