Funeral services for John Strackbein, 87, were held at Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, May 27 with the Rev. Paul Jordan officiating. Burial was in Van Horne cemetery.

Pallbearers were Richard and Kirk Hein, James and Jerry Hasenbank, Val Souchek and Terry Strackbein. Carol Hein and Joan Souchek were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Leroy Boettger was organist. The Chapman funeral home was in charge.

Mr. Strackbein died at the Clarence Nursing home, May 23.

He was born in Lowden and lived in the area all of his life. He was married to Anna Stuhr in Lowden in 1915.

He is survived by his wife, 3 daughters, Mrs. William (Caroline) Hein, Lowden; Mrs. Don (Marie) Souchek, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Arlo (Louise) Hasenbank, Clarence; a son, Erwin, Lowden; 11 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren and a brother, Francis, Lowden.
