Clara Leathers 1863-1951

Mrs. George Leathers, who was known by several people here in Clarence was a sister of Charles A. Seaton and the only other living member of that family of seven children.

Clara Elizabeth Seaton was born July 2, 1863 to B. W. and Julia E. Bond Seaton at Kewanee, Ill. She spent her early childhood in that and the Cambridge, Ill. vicinity where on July 6, 1881 she was married to George M. Leathers. To this union was born one son Harvey Lewis on April 22, 1882. This family lived in Chicago during their full wedded life. Mr. Leathers passed away on July 9th, 1935, in Chicago. At the time of her death on February 2, 1951, she had attained the age of 87 years and 7 months.

She leaves to mourn her passing her son Harvey and wife Elsie and a brother Charles A. Seaton and many nieces and nephews and a few old friends.

As a part of the funeral services that were conducted at a funeral home the Order of Eastern Star of the Austin Chapter conducted their services. These services were held on Monday, February 5th at 2:30.

Mrs. Leathers was a frequent summer visitor in the Seaton home. She made her last trip when her brother and wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
