26 March 1942 - The Clarence Sun
Albert Ebert, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ebert, was born on a farm southeast of Clarence, on Sept. 26, 1888. He was baptized in infancy by Rev. Schwartz of Lowden and confirmed with the class of 1903 in Clarence by Rev. Hermann.
He grew into manhood in this vicinity and on Feb. 23, 1911, was married to Miss Frieda Miller. This union was blessed with two children, Florence and Norbert, who with their mother mourn the loss of their dear one. Other surviving relatives include two grandchildren, Larry and Virjean Koering, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Norbert Ebert, and a son-in-law, Edwin Koering; two brothers, Emil of Vernon, Colorado, and William of Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Conrad, Mrs. Geo. Thien and Mrs. Chris Muesing.
Mr. and Mrs. Ebert always lived in Cedar county. First on a farm about seven miles south of Clarence and for the past eight years north of Clarence.
Mr. Ebert was a man who never complained, though at times his health was not very good. On Sunday, March 8th, he was taken to the hospital at Iowa City and it was there that he departed this life. All that loving hands could do, was done to relieve his suffering but his Lord further relieved him by taking him out of this land of suffering into an eternity where suffering and sorrow are unknown. He passed away peacefully at 2 o'clock on the morning of March 18th, having at the time of his death attained the age of 53 years, 5 months and 22 days.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, March 21, 1942, from the Ebert home and the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church with burial at St. John's cemetery. The pallbearers were: Harry Crist, Henry Hasenbank, Wm. Andresen, Hugo Stuhr, Arnold Lerch and Henry Busching. Flower bearers were: Mrs. Arnold Mente, Mrs. Henry Hasenbank and Mrs. Harry Crist. Rev. F. J. Mittler was the officiating minister.
